What Are Fletes? The Mexican Word for the Work of Moving Freight

In Mexican logistics Spanish, fletes means the paid transportation of carga. Mode, border, and extras decide what that word costs.

What are fletes, in the language of Mexican embarcadores, is not a trivia question. Fletes are the paid movements of carga: the truck, the shared trailer, the warehouse dwell, the cruce fronterizo. When someone says “consígueme el flete,” they are asking for a priced, operational plan, not a dictionary definition.

COL Freight Solutions arranges those fletes as a licensed U.S. property broker (USDOT 4427559, MC-1741651) across the USA, Mexico, and Canada. FTL, LTL, and warehousing sit on the same desk. If you need the word turned into a tender, send the lane to shipping@colfreightsolutions.com or call 561-880-9808.

What are fletes you will actually buy

Camión completo (FTL) when the trailer is yours. Consolidado (LTL) when you share space and accept class and terminal touches. Especializado when the cargo needs plataforma, refrigerado, or handling the dry van cannot give. Transfronterizo when the plan includes a border, not only kilometers.

Almacenamiento is adjacent: sometimes the flete cannot leave until the consignee’s dock opens. Price dwell separately so it does not hide inside linehaul.

What decides the cost of fletes

Mode, cube, class on LTL, diesel, casetas and border dwell on international legs, and accessorials at the patios. There is no honest “precio de flete” without those inputs. Anyone selling a single number for “fletes a Estados Unidos” is selling a brochure.

Documents that travel with the flete

Carta porte or bill of lading, packing list, and whatever the crossing requires for your commodity. Mismatched weights between commercial invoice and BOL are how the truck waits while two offices argue. Align the numbers before the tractor shows up.

  • Name origin patio and destination DC hours.
  • State if the flete is exclusive use.
  • Say whether a transload is expected at the border.

From definición to cotización

Tell COL Freight the merchandise, the medidas, and whether the flete crosses. We will recommend LTL or FTL and show fuel and extras. Shippers who award recurring fletes may qualify for the Transportation Cost Recovery Program™—recovery on qualified spend, after the operational flete is specified like an adult.

Questions shippers ask

Are fletes the same as the trucking company?

Fletes are the moves. The company may be a carrier or a broker arranging carriers. COL Freight is a licensed U.S. property broker that coordinates the flete you describe.

What is the difference between flete LTL and flete FTL?

LTL shares the trailer and prices by class and cube. FTL buys exclusive use. The cheaper flete depends on how full the box is and how tight the appointment is.

Do fletes include customs duties?

Not unless the quote says so. Duties, pedimento work, and merchandise insurance are usually separate from the motor flete. Ask for the stack in writing.

How do I request fletes from COL Freight?

Send origin, destination, commodity, weight, dimensions, and dates. You will receive a quote for that flete, not a generic USA price list.
