Cargo Transport Service: Specify FTL, LTL, Warehouse, or Border—Not “a Truck”

Ask for a cargo transport service by mode and constraint. “Need a truck” produces the wrong trailer and a rewrite at the dock.

A cargo transport service is a defined product: exclusive trailer, shared LTL network, storage and transload, or a coordinated cruce fronterizo. When the request is only “necesito un camión,” the desk has to guess equipment, transit, and whether your tarimas can sit next to someone else’s freight. Guessing is how you pay twice.

COL Freight Solutions sells those products as a licensed U.S. property broker (USDOT 4427559, MC-1741651) with offices in Saint Petersburg, FL and Los Gatos, CA. Tell us which service you need and the constraints of the plants. We quote that, then book it. 561-880-9808 · shipping@colfreightsolutions.com.

Matching cargo transport service to the freight

FTL when you need the box, the clock, or exclusive use. LTL when a few pallets can tolerate terminal touches and class pricing. Warehousing when the PO and the production date do not meet. Cross-border when documents and a handoff are part of the work, not an afterthought.

Reefer, flatbed, and oversize are services, not upgrades you mention after the van is dispatched. Temperature set points and strap counts belong in the first email.

Service levels that change the price stack

Live load versus drop trailer. Appointment versus FCFS. Inside delivery versus tailgate. Each is a different cargo transport service even if the miles look identical. Put them on the RFQ so the bid is not a fiction.

What to write in the service request

Commodity and packaging, piece count, weight, L×W×H, origin patio hours, destination receiving rules, and whether the move is doméstico en EE. UU., doméstico en México (we broker U.S. authority legs and coordinate the North America move), or transfronterizo.

  • Name the mode you think you need—and allow us to contradict you if cube says otherwise.
  • Attach photos of the tarimas.
  • State if storage days are required before final delivery.

From service definition to booked tender

Once the product is named, COL Freight returns a quote with fuel logic and known extras. If you will repeat the same servicio de transporte de carga every week, ask about the Transportation Cost Recovery Program™ on qualified spend. The program does not replace specifying the service; it rewards doing so consistently.

Questions shippers ask

What cargo transport service do I need for six pallets?

Often LTL, unless height, length, or exclusive-use rules push you to FTL. Send dimensions and we will say which service fits. Pallet count alone is not enough.

Is warehousing a cargo transport service or a separate contract?

It is a distinct product with cube, inbound, and outbound rules. If you need it, put dwell days in the request so linehaul and storage are not mixed into one mystery number.

Can one service request cover Mexico origin and U.S. delivery?

Yes, as a coordinated North America move. State the crossing and the commodity. The physical trucks may change; the service definition should not.

How do I request a cargo transport service from COL Freight?

Email the mode, lane, dims, and dates to shipping@colfreightsolutions.com or call 561-880-9808. You will get a quote for the service you described, with gaps flagged.
